COLLEGE-IN-3 MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS

Engaging in a Learning Community

College-in-3 Membership

What are the benefits of joining the College-in-3 Exchange?

We are at core a Learning Community.

The College-in-3 Exchange offers members opportunities to meet each other virtually through our monthly zoom meetings, “College-in-3 Connects” and in-person at our Annual Convening, alongside additional engagements through the year.

Our meetings address a variety of informative and knowledge share topics. We feature institutional stories about the genesis, development, and approval of members’ 3-year degrees, with discussion of challenges and lessons learned. We focus on topics such as institutional assessment, state regulations, and leading campus innovation. These sessions facilitate one-to-one follow-ups among the members as well as with the College-in-3 Executive Director and expert consultants.

In addition, we offer:

  • Research: The Exchange is engaged in research on participation and retention in 3-year degrees using IPEDS data and IPEDS equivalent data collected by institutions on their 3-year degrees, and on student learning outcomes.
  • Advocacy Support: The College-in-3 Exchange champions the 3-year degree and helps institutions make the case for the innovations they are creating.
  • Visibility for 3-year programs: Promote and feature Members’ 3-year programs.
  • Advice and Consultation: Through regular emails and virtual meetings with the Executive Director and expert consultants, members can seek advice and resources, and referrals to other member institutions that can be helpful on their learning journey. A members-only Linked-In group allows individuals to seek advice and inform our community of developments on campus. Member campuses can request the services of a consultant to facilitate campus discussions or advise on specific issues such as accreditation, program design, and assessment. A special initiative on institutional assessment provides tools and advice to member institutions, in groups and individually, on developing and implementing their assessment plans.

What Does the Exchange Ask of Members?

We ask that members are including goals to design and implement one or more 3-year degree programs of up to 120 credits, or at least 120 credits, but which require no more than 3 years of continuous enrollment.

Members select institutional leadership from their Program and Research teams to engage in the following activities:

  • Participate in scheduled College-in-3 Exchange monthly zoom meetings.
  • Engage with their respective state regulatory bodies and accreditors.
  • Participate in an in-person College-in-3 Exchange Convening annually.
  • Develop and implement a 3-year assessment program; share assessment documentation as appropriate.
  • Provide IPEDS equivalent data to the Exchange on their 3-year programs, once launched,  as part of the Exchange’s ongoing research.
  • Inform the Exchange of institutional progress through zoom meetings with staff and brief written reports.
  • Help spread the word about the work of College-in-3.
